Box 618 >r' Mill Colony Southold, NY 11971 September 4, 1986 Southoid::Town Board of Trustees Town Hall, 53095 Main Road Southold, NY 11971 Dear Sir or Madams I am writing this letter because I am concerned about Arshamomaque Pond in Southold. On Labor Day I visited the Long Porid_Estates development. I noticed that dirt was being moved into part of a vegetated marsh area. It is not clear if the developer is planning to fill in the whole area. However, I feel it is imperative to bring this to your attention. He has already filled in an unacceptable amount of marsh area. In addition, the dirt from the filled area is eroding into the water of Arshamomaque Pond. This is potentially a serious threat to the ponds ecology. The area I am refering to is illustrated on the map on the following page. ' I feel that this situation should be investigated. I have sent a copy of this letter to the North Fork Environmental Council. I would appreciate it if you could keep me informed of your conclusions. You told me that so far as you could ascertain, neither Edward Kadlic (the present owner) nor Jeffrey Forchelli (the previous owner) had received permission from the Town of Southold to fill in the marsh on that land and build a house on the fill. You also expressed an intention to write to Mr. Kadlic concerning Town regulations, with a copy to be .sent to me. During our conversation you mentioned that at some time in the past someone started to fill in that marsh but was restrained and made to restore it. My husband and I would very much like to have, in writing, the details of that situation. Could you send them to me, or Jive me the name of a person who could provide them? We would greatly appreciate it. Sincerely, __1nA.CIAAI 'Sta—.t.°5.
