PH-9/22/2026 at 6PM- Community Development Block Grant Funding Requests
RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby sets Tuesday,
September 22nd, 2026, at 6:OOPM, Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main Road, Southold,New
York 11971, as the time and place for a Public Hearing to hear citizens on Community
Development needs to be met with approximately $100,000.00 in Community Development
Block Grant funds the Town of Southold expects to receive in April 2027 and authorizes
the Town Clerk to publish an "Announcement of Public Hearing Notice".

2026, which reads as follows:
WHEREAS the Fishers Island Ferry District policy as described in the Employee
Handbook grants a 3% longevity increase to wages when an individual has been employed
by the Fishers Island Ferry District for five years; and,
It is further RESOLVED that, with effect September 9, 2026, employee 57692 pay be
increased by 3%.

Resolution Number 2026-094 of the Fishers Island Ferry District, adopted September 1,
2026, which reads as follows:
WHEREAS the Fishers Island Ferry District requires an Accounting Supervisor; and
THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED TO hire Brittany Schaefer as a full-time Business
Manager I(FIFD) with a starting salary of$70,000 effective September 10, 2026 subject to
Civil Service approval.

Public Safety Committee
WHEREAS, by Resolution 2026-167, adopted February 10, 2026, the Town Board of the
Town of Southold established a Public Safety Task Force, whose purpose was to examine
the health, safety, and welfare concerns associated with federal immigration policy and to
examine all proposed federal, state, and local legislation for the purpose of advising the
Town Board; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board has determined that the Public Safety Task Force has
completed the tasks outlined in the framework and the Town's continued focus on public
safety is best served by establishing a standing Public Safety Committee charged with
communication, education, and coordination; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Public Safety Task Force have served the Town with
distinction, volunteering their time, experience, and expertise, and the Town Board wishes
to express its sincere gratitude to each of them for their dedicated service; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, that the work of the Public Safety Task Force is hereby concluded, and the
Public Safety Task Force established by Resolution 2026-167 is hereby dissolved; and be it
further
RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby establishes a Public Safety Committee, to meet
at least quarterly, and more often as needed, openly and in accordance with the Open
Meetings Law and the Town's standard committee rules and regulations; to serve a term of
one (1)year renewable by the Town Board at its annual organizational meeting; and to
consist of the following members:
• Two (2) members to represent the Anti-Bias Task Force;
• Two (2) members to represent the Police Advisory Committee;
• Two (2) members of the Police Department, including the School Resource Officer;
• The Southold Town Community Liaison (Spanish-speaking);
• One (1)representative of the school districts;
• One (1)Village of Greenport elected official;
• One (1) community business leader;
• One (1)representative of the houses of worship within the Town of Southold; and;
• Two (2) Town Board Liaisons, one from the Anti-Bias Task Force and one from the
Police Advisory Committee who
shall serve as Co-Chairs;
and be it further;
RESOLVED, that the Public Safety Committee, acting at the direction of the Town Board,
is charged with communication, education, and coordination, regarding the public safety
response procedures, including working with the Police Department to develop educational
materials explaining those procedures, what residents can expect from the Department
during outside agency operations, and how to report through 911 or police headquarters.
The Public Safety Committee shall also coordinate with the Communications Committee to
disseminate those materials across a range of channels with attention to language
accessibility, including communicating the non-sensitive details of the Police
Commissioner's periodic reviews of the Public Safety Response procedures; and be it
further
RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately.

Adoption of the Suffolk County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan subject
WHEREAS the Town Board of the Town of Southold recognizes the threat that natural
hazards pose to people and property within the Town of Southold; and
WHEREAS the Town Board of the Town of Southold has prepared a multi-hazard
mitigation plan, hereby known as the Suffolk County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan in
accordance with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000; and
WHEREAS the Suffolk County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies mitigation goals
and actions to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property in Southold from
the impacts of future hazards and disasters; and
WHEREAS adoption by the Town Board of the Town of Southold demonstrates their
commitment to hazard mitigation and achieving the goals outlined in the Suffolk County
2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold
adopts the Suffolk County 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan subject to the approval of the Town
Attorney.

register of Historic Landmarks
RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby designates the Shiloh
Baptist Church, circa 1921 as historic and is to be added to the Town's register of Historic
Landmarks; the house is owned by the Shiloh Baptist Church and is located at SCTM 1000-
135.-3-22, 51820 County Road 48, Southold,New York, all in accordance with Chapter
170 of the Southold Town Code, the recommendation for designation by the Southold
Town Historic Preservation Commission, and acceptance of designation by property
owners.
