This property previously had a bulkhead permit with repairs done previously under permit number : #,4286 (Blair-1986) . r As per my conversation with Diane, various bulkhead contractors have looked at the project and have indicated to me that the entire bulkhead section needs to be replaced. Placement of a new bulkhead 18 " in front of the existing bulkhead into Peconic Bay would be the most viable alternative. The bulkhead needs to be replaced at a length of 116 , along Little' Peconic Bay and _ 60 ' along a return on the eastern border . Additionally, there is a pre-existing jetty along the property line along the old Midway Inlet which is a waterway which is completely closed. We have previously advised you that the Southold Trustees are requiring the removal and replacement in place and have accordingly requested an amendment of your per- mit.to coincide with Trustees' requirements. In addi- tion to this, we request that backfi 1 be allowed to be taken from the shoal in inlet to Yddway Pond which lies directly east of the subject property. If you will recall, approximately two years ago. I inquired of the feasibility of dredging this inlet by an association. Although you stated you could not make a definite opinion until an application was filed, it was your impression that this would be feasibile. An application, however., was never filed as the individual responsible for getting the project under way moved away from the area. At the present time, Mr. Blair would remove a maximum of approximately 500 cu. yds. from above the line of mean high water. This is a r -2- miniscule amount compared to the marry thousands of yards which would have to be removed from the entire inlet to allow flushing to occur. It is not our intention at this time to undertake that project but simply to utilize a convenient nearby source of backfill. I trust this will be agreeable to you and request an amendment. By copy of this letter, I am requesting the Southold Trustees to take similar action. Yours truly, Roy L.
