Melrose 500 Robinson Road Greenport, New York 11944 Dear Mr. Melrose: We have completed our review of the above application. From the information submitted it appears that the proposed work is authorized by our General Permit for Non-Commercial Mooring Structures (NYDGP-10) a copy of which is enclosed. Your work should be performed according to the conditions of this General Permit . Please display the enclosed Notice of Authorization sign at your work site. A copy is enclosed for your records . You are required to submit to this office the dates of commencement and completion of your work. Enclosed are two forms for you to use to submit the required dates . Notice is hereby given that the permittee 'should recognize that a possibility exists that the structure permitted herein may be subject to wave wash from passing vessels . The issuance of this permit does not relieve the permittee from taking all proper steps to insure the integrity of the structure permitted herein and the safety of boats moored thereto from damage by wave wash and the permittee shall not hold the United States liable for any such damage. It should be noted that this permit does not relieve you of the obligation to obtain. any State or local approvals for your work. If, for any reason, a change in your plans or construction methods is found necessary, please contact us immediately to discuss modification of your permit. Melrose To Whom It May Concern: The New York District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has received a request for Department of the Army authorization for the following activity: APPLICANT: Robert G. Melrose 500 Robinson Road Greenport, NY 11944 ACTIVITY: Remove a 40 foot x 6 foot fixed timber pier and replace with a 40 foot x 6 foot float, remove a 9 foot ramp and replace with a 7.5 foot x 6 foot float, and remove a 30 foot x 4 foot timber ramp walkway and replace with a 30 foot x 4 foot aluminum ramp. The purpose of the work is to provide dockage for the applicant's vessels. WATERWAY: Stirling Basin, Shelter Island Sound LOCATION: Village of Greenport, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York As this is minor in nature, authorization may be by Letter of Permission. This is in-accordance with current Federal Regulations governing work in navigable waters of the United States. To accomplish the coordination required, prior to the issuance of a Letter of Permission, your review of the enclosed drawings is requested. Pursuant to Section 307 (c) of the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 as amended (16 U.S.C. 1465 (c) ) , the applicant has certified that the -activity complies with and will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the approved state coastal zone management program.
